The Polo GT TSI and GT TDI have to be among the most enjoyable hatchbacks in the Indian car market today. And to make these twins even more tempting, Volkswagen is now offering a new edition that looks cosmetically better. Its called the “GT Sport” and is available at an extra premium of about Rs 20,000.
To began with, there are no mechanical differences here. You continue to get the same 1.2-litre TSI petrol or the 1.5-litre TDI diesel. The former makes 105 PS of power and is mated to a 7 speed DSG automatic gearbox while the latter develops 110 PS of power and comes with a 5-speed manual unit. The tyres are bigger though, with the GT Sport getting new 16-inch Portago alloy wheels.
So what else has changed? Here is a quick look:
- You get a new glossy black spoiler
- Glossy black roof foil
- GT Sport side foil
- Leatherette finished GT sport embossed seat covers
These five changes (including the bigger alloy wheels) do end up making the Polo GT look quite good. Note that the GT Sport is available in two color options of flash red and candy white only. The Volkswagen Polo TSI makes for a good alternative to the Maruti Baleno RS we say. Wish to upgrade from your current ride to one of these? Head over to our “sell car” section right away!
