The much awaited full faired Tornado is now available for bookings as per a report on IAB. Dealers are taking a token amount of Rs 25,000 for you to book this bike while deliveries are slated to start next month.
For the uninitiated, DSK had showcased the Benelli Tornado 302 at the 2016 Auto Expo. They have been testing the bike in real world conditions for over an year and it finally seems set for an official launch. Pricing is yet to be decided but our estimate is that it will be priced just below the Yamaha R3.
The Yamaha R3 will be its direct rival – both the bikes have a 2 cylinder 300cc engine, 6 speed gearbox and full fairing – here is a great comparo done by maxabout
The Tornado has a big bike feel in terms of its size. Infact it is longer, wider and taller than the R3 and also weighs about 20 kgs more. This will go down well with those who want a ‘big’ bike at lower prices.
Powering the Tornado is a 302cc twin cylinder motor that is good for 38 PS of power and 27.4 Nm of torque. Though it might not be as smooth as the R3, performance will be good for highway usage. Here are some more images:
