It costs Rs 38 lakh (on-road) and has enough power to shame quite a few Superbikes. And at 350 kg (wet weight), it needs an experienced rider in the saddle. But guess who turns out to be the lucky rider?
Ahmedabad based businessman (Kiran) recently gifted the new BMW K 1600 GTL to his young son. This is also the country’s first K 1600 GTL. The occasion? It was Mr Kiran’s wife’s birthday and friendship day too happened to fall on the same day. Yes, you read that right.
Further, this is not the standard version but the ‘Pro’ model that comes with Shift Assistant Pro for shifting up and down without using the clutch. The cost? Approximately Rs 38 lakh on-road! We sure Mr Kiran and his son will enjoy riding this long distance tourer on Gujarat’s well laid out highways – be it the high-speed Rajkot route or NE1 to Vadodara!
The story was picked up via DivyaBhaskar but I guess they sent an amateur to cover the event – why do we say that? The video and article mentions the top speed as 397 km/h! That is as fast as the current world speed record of 400 held by the Ninja H2R!
For the uninitiated, the bike was launched in India in May this year and comes with a 160 bhp 1.6-litre engine. This is a proper luxury tourer and gets rider aids like ABS pro, electronically adaptive suspension, three riding modes, traction control etc. Add to it a reverse gear as well!
