While Ajay’s action and star packed movie Baadshaho got released today, I couldn’t help but dig around more on the six-wheeled Superstar the we have been seeing in the trailers. And guess what I found – this truck is actually based on the popular Shaktiman model that was used by the Indian armed forces a few decades back!
A couple of online reports further suggest that the director wanted to have a truck that looked rugged and could fit in the ‘war and fight’ theme perfectly well. Infact, the truck ended up going through four stages of paint schemes for a perfect match with the hue of the film.
As seen in these images, the original truck seems to have been modified extensively. There are safety grilles all around, five fog lamps, side lights and a completely new rear. The movie is set in the year 1975 and this truck is the center of attraction due to the fact that it is loaded up with gold!
For the uninitiated, the Shaktiman truck was manufactured by VFJ (Vehicle Factory Jabalpur) between 1959 to 1966 and over 75,000 of these were pressed into service. Power came from a multi-fuel 130 bhp engine with standard 4×4 axles.
